Are Black People "Really" Suspects At Birth?

Are Black People "Really" Suspects At Birth?

I ask that question because I was just in this situation on the NJ Transit (Train) where I was the only black Man on the train with a monthly pass when this white train conductor accused me of having a bus pass, which led to me being escorted off the train by the Cranford Police, once this train left, I was then harassed, illegally searched and thrown in jail. This pass I was trying to get all of these white officials to just take a look at, nobody made any attempts to see that this train pass that I just paid $168.00 on April 1, which was actually one day before my 37th birthday (April 2), they was too busy trying to find drugs on me. After going to see my Mother for my birthday and getting on this train at 2:06 pm, I didn't get released from Cranford Police Station until almost 5 pm, after I was called all types of names and treated like I was dirt.

I have a history in Plainfield, NJ, where I grew up as a street hustler selling drugs and living a life of crime, 21 years old on a reading level and I was even shot five times. However, in 2006 when I changed my life by turning it over to God, I made 10 plans to stay out of jail, but I turned this whole life changing prison sentence into a stage play based on writing and self-publishing several books and furthering my education.

In 2007, I actually wrote my first book, From Suspect to Prospect: Life and Times of Adrian Collins, and a stage play of the same name, I had one copy of this book that I had to give to my Mother to sell to her friend that I tried to show them just to assure them that I was legit, but it all back fired on me. When I first named my book that title, my philosophy before I came home from prison was to dress like a prospect and not a suspect.
I turned in my Timberland boots and hoodies for suits and dress shoes just like what I was wearing at the time and that I had wore on the cover of my book.

Nevertheless, even though I am now a prospect it seems that nowadays the authorities have not changed in the least; for I am still being treated as a suspect. Do You think it was due to the color of my skin, or am I making too much out of the issue of racism that you feel has long past? Feel free to leave a comment on this issue and share your moment in life where you were treated like a suspect instead of the prospect you now have become.

Queen City Community Academy Announces $7.3 Million Fundraising campaign to address society’s challenges and prepare global leaders

Queen City has today launched its newest and biggest campaign, Project Kids, which will promote and celebrate the vital work fundraisers do.

Project Kids aims to give organisational fundraisers and individuals a voice and the tools they need to develop a mind-set of ‘whole organisation fundraising’.

The campaign, supported by
Adrian “Mr. Publisher” Collins, will be a key part of the youth program where Project Kids toolkit will be launched.

The campaign has been developed to enable organisations to plan for the future, putting excellent fundraising at the heart of what they do to help them best achieve their mission. The campaign will be celebrating the work of Project Kids members and the wider fundraising community, as well as demonstrating the positive role that fundraising plays through encouraging volunteering and creating long-lasting relationships with supporters and donors.
PJ Kids is already creating a stir on social media where people are sharing why they are proud of fundraising using the hashtag #fundraiser.

The Project Kids has already raised $145,000 toward the Campaign goal, Mr. Publisher, Chief Executive of the Project Kids said:
The Campaign has a second goal to broaden the Project’s base of annual support among alumni, parents and friends -- as reflected by 140,995 donors making a gift during the Campaign. A total of 85,832 donors have made a gift during the early phase of the Campaign.
“This is a really exciting campaign for us which gets to the heart of what the Institute of Fundraising is all about. Fundraisers do a fantastic job connecting people to causes they care about, securing vital income for important causes here and abroad. I am immensely proud of the work that they do. ‘Project Kids’ gives us a great platform for celebrating their hard work, passion, and successes across the voluntary sector and promoting excellent fundraising to colleagues, Chief Executives and trustees as well as politicians, the media and the public.”
Speaking about the launch of the forthcoming toolkit, How to secure Sponsors Successfully, Director Roberta Vigilance said:

“Income grows when the whole organisation is proud of its fundraising. That’s why we are launching the Project Kids toolkit with the City of
Plainfield’s 9th Annual Back to School Cutz and Styles in August. It combines the Great Fundraising* report’s findings and our experiences of working with successful fundraising leaders into a practical guide to help you implement proved strategies so you too can get your whole organisation united behind, and proud of, your fundraising, to raise more money for your cause."
The Queen City Convention takes place 22-24th August in Plainfield. This year, delegates booked to attend Monday may bring their CEO to the opening plenary for free.* This initiative will give sector leaders the opportunity to hear the key messages in Mr. Publisher’s innovative session, which will launch the Project Kids fundraiser toolkit, and enable them to lead their organisations to raise significantly more money to achieve their mission.
